The Safe Places application process in now online
All applicants must have a Safe Places Online Portal Account to apply.
Details on how to create / activate your account are outlined on this page.
Before you apply, you must ensure you have the following documents ready.
- Copy of required background checks (valid within 3 months of application)
(including a copy of the outcome of Fingerprint checks if you were selected by your police authority to provide)
- Copy of the Education and Training Certificate acceptable for your Safe Places designation*
- Copy of 2 Pieces of Government issue ID (1 photo)
- Copy of 1 Photograph / headshot / selfie to be used for Public Directory Identification
*All individuals recertifying are required to complete one of the accepted Education and Training Courses again.
Once approved you will receive a digital copy of your Safe Places certificate via email and available for download in your safe Places Portal Account.
All certified individuals will also appear in the Online Public Directory
Annual Declaration
To maintain your Safe Places certification status and appear in the public directory, you must complete an annual declaration available through your online portal account.
Changing My certification Type
At some point during your certification cycle the role you play may change and with that the certification type that you need. You can upgrade your Certification to the the required type from your Online Portal account easily with an upgrade application provided you meet the ‘upgrade requirements’. More info here

Previously Safe Places Certified?
- If you have been Certified previously, you will already have an Online Safe Places Portal Account
- If you haven’t yet activated your online account or received an email from Safe Places with information then please contact us by email: portal@safeplaces.ca
- You will receive an email from safeplaces@saasycloud.com ( check spam folder) asking you to verify your email so you may access your account.
- Once logged in you must complete the ‘My Information’ section first
- Your Dashboard will then show you options to Apply
